Laser Industry News

SLM Solutions will premiere their own 3D metal printing system at this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show. The system, featuring twin 400W lasers, is considered to be one of the fastest machines in its class. See a live demo at booth N-71 during IMTS, next week. Advanced Manufacturing published an article discussing the growth of additive manufacturing as an industry, as evidenced by the creation of a standalone pavilion at this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show. Previously, additive manufacturing technology was included as part of an emerging technology pavilion, before being combined with laser and fabricating technology. According to Industrial-Lasers, company Universal Laser Systems has filed a patent for technology that will combine multiple wavelengths of laser energy into a single beam. This technology will be used to combine laser power levels and wavelengths, making it a versatile option for job shops that require a broad range of materials, within one system.
